GTA VI's Only Physical Release Will Be the Soundtrack Album

Alright everyone, on September 17, 2026, Rockstar revealed part of what will be GTA VI's soundtrack. And, as always happens with anything GTA-related, we already have a juicy controversy to dig into — one that's split fans right down the middle.

In this article, we'll break down what was revealed, the tracks and the artists behind them, and what exactly Rockstar means by "Album."

Only Two Months Until Launch

Rockstar clearly wants to keep the GTA VI hype train running, and fans — starved for information — are eating it up. And there's still plenty more to be revealed.

Continuing its marketing push for the game, Rockstar Games announced on its official pages that GTA VI will get a music album featuring 34 original tracks that will make up the game's classic in-game radio stations.

The Singles List

Right off the bat, the company dropped 6 new singles blending a wide mix of genres and familiar voices — including Travis Scott and Keith Richards (yes, the Rolling Stones guitarist) — who are now part of this entertainment-industry milestone called GTA VI.

A Melting Pot of Flavors

Everyone already knows Vice City is Miami. And we also know the American South is packed with cultural influences — from Latin Hispanic communities, to French colonization, to West Coast street culture, to swamp-dwelling rednecks, to that unmistakable 80s vibe that still brings Tommy Vercetti to mind.

"That's It," "Rhyno," and "Sexy Magic" all remind me of a sunset rooftop party. Each in its own way, of course, but they're all dance-ready tracks that are going to soundtrack the big release-day party on November 19.

But in "Rhyno," in my opinion, Travis Scott nailed that classic movie-scene aura — the kind where the protagonists walk into the club in slow motion while the villain watches from across the room. If this track isn't tied to a mission like that, I'm going to have to ask for my money back (kidding).

Keith Richards brought his own contribution to GTA VI with a cover of "Bright Lights, Big City." The guitarist revives a 1961 song by Jimmy Reed, a blues genius (in Richards' own words), who was a hit across the American South and, by the band's own account, inspired the Rolling Stones.

The song has that classic, clichéd backwoods vibe — the kind of wood-paneled roadside bar with ceiling fans lazily spinning over a pool table. If Jason doesn't get into a bar fight with this song playing, you know what to do, Rockstar.

Time for the Irony

You're probably wondering: "Okay, so what's the controversy this time?"

Well, GTA VI is arriving in an era where physical media has pretty much been buried for good. The game itself will only get a physical edition containing a download code for the digital storefront. But Rockstar decided that GTA's soundtrack deserves its own physical album. Yes — you'll actually be able to buy and take home physical media with GTA VI's music on it. Isn't that wild?

But hold on, it gets even better (or worse, depending on how you look at it).

In the announcement for GRAND THEFT AUTO: THE ALBUM, Rockstar revealed there will be two versions of the product. As a collector, you'll be able to choose between vinyl and CD.

Sales happen through a separate website, which also showcases new artwork created for the album, with prices starting at $20 — and no confirmation yet on shipping to Brazil.

Understandably, plenty of collectors reacted with outrage to this move, which is, at the very least, ironic on Rockstar's part — the company is willing to sell physical media for a product it had to license from third parties, but not for its own game.
